The collection consists of ten letters, including: a series of six letters, including originals and carbons, between Graves and Weber de Vore, and between de Vore and William Rose Benet, 1933-1934, concerning the false attribution of the novel The Gold Falcon to Graves in a review, with mention of his forthcoming novel I, Claudius; two letters to his publisher, Raymond Anderson, 26 Sept. and 18 Oct., no year, about reviewing proofs and the impending publication of his Collected poems; to George Reavy, 8 June 1965, commenting on Yevtushenko's poems; to Gordon Dyson, 15 Nov. 1969, with candid remarks about Dyson's songs and Graves's observations on verse.

Robert (Von Ranke) Graves was born in London in 1895. He attended King's College School and Rokeby School, Wimbledon, Copthorne School, Sussex, Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey, 1907-14. In 1926, he received a B. Litt. From St. John's College, Oxford. He was the author of poetry, fiction, nonfiction, autobiographies, historical novels, essays, librettos, criticism, short stories, and children’s books.
